About Jason Johns Weddings
Your ceremony is important, but it's only a short part of your wedding day. I want to be there to help you remember it all, from the time you start to get ready, throughout the ceremony, and for all of the fun, emotion and tradition of the reception.
My approach
I approach every wedding as a unique and personal story to be told in pictures. As a photojournalist, my goal is to record events as they happen with integrity and creativity. You can expect little or no direction from me throughout the day. I look for expressions, gestures, details and storytelling moments to make images that not only capture what you wore and what you did but how you felt. Such moments are fleeting and often go unnoticed, yet they say so much about your relationship. Often you won't even realize I've been taking pictures. But at the end of the day, you will have a set of memories that you will cherish for years to come.
My background
Before moving to Vermont, I worked at a variety of newspapers in different states, including the Boston Globe, The Daily News in Midland, Michigan, and the HeraId in Jasper, Indiana. Currently, I'm a staff photographer at the Valley News. I hold a Master's degree in photojournalism from the University of Missouri's School of Journalism and I've been photographing weddings since 2004. Over the years, my work has been recognized by College Photographer of the Year, Best of Photojournalism, the National Press Photographer's Association, the Wedding Photojournalist Association, and lots of happy couples!
